Davenport, Fla. (January 23, 2015) — The fine communities and luxury homes built by ABD Development are known for their beauty, quality, and locations. Now they will be also be known for their green, energy efficient certification by a carefully moderated ratings program developed by the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET).

The Jacksonville, Florida based RESNET energy rating company, SkyeTec, has given ABD Development’s construction a top rating on the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index scale. This adds to the appeal of the already sought after homes built by the award winning Central Florida based custom home builder and community developer.

“The Home Energy Rating System Index is the industry standard for measuring a home’s energy efficiency and the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating energy performance,” states SkyeTec. “We verify various features and building components of the home throughout the construction process and input this data into RESNET approved software. From this data, the software calculates the HERS Index Score for the home.”

ABD’s homes scored low on the scale, which indicates that their carbon footprint and energy usage fall on the favorable end of the HERS Index. A negative score would be higher and comes from structures that may have major air leakage, no insulation, and extremely high energy consumption. Contributing to ABD’s positive score would be a home that is perfectly air tight, well insulated, and sufficiently ventilated.

Explains ABD President Yuval Botansky, “We had SkyeTec energy raters on the build site to verify that the construction conformed to the RESNET approved process, ensuring the home would be on track to achieve all efficiency goals. After construction, SkyeTec did a barrage of tests and we were very pleased with the outcome.”
